University of Bordeaux

In 2007, three laboratories, PIOM, IXL and LAPS located in Bordeaux have joined to form the IMS laboratory (, which now regroups 350 persons (teachers-researchers, technical staff and PhD students). The people working at IMS are part of the University Bordeaux 1 (UB1), the CNRS or IPB (Institute Polytechnique de Bordeaux). IMS stands for “Laboratoire de l'Intégration du Matériau au Système” which means Integration of hardware, intelligence and knowledge in communicating and anthropocentered systems. Three departments are developing research studies on (1) Materials, Microelectromechanical systems, Bioelectromagnetics: MCM department, (2) IC Design, Reliability, Power electronics: COFI department and (3) Automatic control, Production engineering, Signal: LAPS department. The IMS team engaged in this project belongs to the Nanoelectronic group of the COFI department which is been notably involved and device compact modelling in Si and graphene based technologies, since the 90’s (for Si) and the people involved are part of UB1, except S. Fregonese who is researcher at the CNRS.
